3-colour Drink @ Kuantan Main Market (Kuantan, Pahang)

The F&B industry has always been like fashion, changing with the times. Everyone wants to be different, and I mean from 5* restaurants down to the humble coffee stall. Just recently, I have been introduced to a drink that brings taste to a whole new level.

It is called 'Sam-sik-cha' aka 3-colour tea. It comes with a layer each of tea, milk and palm sugar, thus the name 3-colour (brown, white, black). My first encounter with this drink is in a small market coffee stall in Kuantan, at 3am in the morning. Crazy, but what the hell, it's Malaysia, where eating and drinking is 24/7. It actually tastes like cendol, probably because of the sweet palm sugar.

You can also opt to replace the tea with coffee, which tastes wonderful too.

Of course, you do not need to be up at 3am to drink this. It is sold in most coffee shops, and some cafes. If you come across this drink, give it a try. You could even try it yourself at home. Easy-breezy..

Thai Food at Kad Suan Kaew, Chiangmai

I have just returned from Chiang Mai, Thailand and would like to highlight 1 eatery worth sharing.

A simple eatery serving authentic simple Thai dishes; delicious and reasonably priced.

The restaurant is small, with only 7 tables, and clientele is mostly students from nearby schools. We think the most popular here was the steamboat, as 6 out of 7 tables had it (we were the exception). However, we opted to have rice, thus, ordered:

1. Fried Grouper with ginger (bird's eye chilli in fish sauce is an accompiment)

2. Chicken with cashew nuts

3. Tomyam goong

4. Fried pork with basil leaves

5. Pad Thai

6. 4 plates of rice (big portion)
7. 2 bottles of drinking water

All of the above cost us 360Bht. We left with a very satisfied stomache and rest assured, should I visit Chiangmai again, this eatery will be one of my Must Go places.

The eatery is on the 2nd floor of Central Dept Store, Kad Suan Kaew., right next to Black Canyon Coffee. The eatery has no name. Please check it out if you're in the area. No regrets, promise.
